FIFA Confederations Cup 2009 Azzurri Calendar
The Italian Football Federation (FIGC) have released the full itinerary for the Italian national team in the build up to the 2009 FIFA Confederations Cup in South Africa, with dates and times to press conferences, media and sponsor events, travel and match arrangements, training and other delegation duties that will take place from May 28 up to the start of the tournament.

Events, dates and times may change at short notice. All times listed are UK time (+1hr for Italy/CET).


Thursday 28 May
Evening - Italy coach Marcello Lippi will announce a 20-man squad for the June 6 friendly against Northern Ireland in Pisa. Lippi will also confirm 13 of the 23 players who will be going to the FIFA Confederations Cup. The final ten members of the official squad will be announced by June 4.

Tuesday 2 June
23:00 – The 20-man squad and the 13 confirmed players will gather at the FIGC's Technical Centre in Coverciano with the rest of the Italian delegation.

Wednesday 3 June
09:30 - Training at Covericano (open to the press).
12:30 approx. - Coach Marcello Lippi and the players will meet with the press. That will be followed by the presentation of the special Confederations Cup Puma kit.
16:00 - Training (closed to the press).

Thursday 4 June
09:30 - Training (open to the press).
12:30 approx. - The players will be available to the press.
16:00 - Training (closed to the press).

Friday 5 June
09:30 - Training (open to the press).
12:30 approx. - Coach Marcello Lippi and the players will meet with the press.

Saturday 6 June
19:50 - Italy v Northern Ireland at the Stadio Garibaldi in Pisa. The coach and players will meet with the press after and then return back to their Coverciano base.

Sunday 7 June
09:30 - Training (open to the press).
12:30 approx. - The players will be available to the press.
16:00 - Training (closed to the press).
22:50 - Charter flight departing from Pisa to Johannesburg (South Africa), and subsequent transfer to their pre-tournament base in Tshwane/Pretoria.

Monday 8 June
14:30 - Training at Southdowns College in Irene/Centurion (open to the press). The coach Marcello Lippi and the players will be available to the press after.

Tuesday 9 June
09:30 - Training at Southdowns College in Irene/Centurion (closed to the press).
16:30 - Training at the Super Stadium in Tshwane/Pretoria (open to the press). The coach Marcello Lippi and the players will be available to the press after.

Wednesday 10 June
19:50 - Italy v New Zealand at the Super Stadium in Tshwane/Pretoria. The coach and players will meet with the press after and then return back to their base.

Thursday 11 June
TBA - Training at Southdowns College in Irene/Centurion (open to the press). The players will be available to the press after.

Friday 12 June
09:30 - Training at Southdowns College in Irene/Centurion (closed to the press).
15:30 - Training at the Super Stadium in Tshwane/Pretoria (open to the press). The players will be available to the press after.

Saturday 13 June
TBA - Training at Southdowns College in Irene/Centurion (open to the press). The players will be available to the press after.

Sunday 14 June
09:30 - Training at Southdowns College in Irene/Centurion (closed to the press).
15:45 - The official pre-match FIFA press conference at the Loftus Verfeld Stadium in Tshwane/Pretoria (opened to the press).
16:30 - Training at the Loftus Verfeld Stadium in Tshwane/Pretoria (open to the press). The players will be available to the press after.

Monday 15 June
19:30 - USA v Italy at the Loftus Verfeld Stadium in Tshwane/Pretoria. The coach and players will meet the press after and then return back to their base.
