[U21] Euro 2011 Qualifying Draw

Italy Under-21s have been handed a favourable draw for the qualification campaign of the 2011 UEFA European Under-21 Championships in Denmark.

The Azzurrini, who will be playing in this summer's finals in Sweden, are in Group 3 along with Bosnia-Herzegovina, Hungary, Luxembourg and Wales.

The 10 group winners and the four best runners-up at the end of the group stage will meet in the play-offs which will decide the seven winners who join hosts Denmark in the 2011 tournament.

Although the group stage qualification process kicks off on 27/28 March, Italy will begin their campaign on 4 September after the 2009 European Championship finals and they will also have a break in October for the Under-20 FIFA World Cup in Egypt. All the groups conclude with the final matches on 7 September 2010.

Pierluigi Casiragi's youngsters are currently preparing for the 2009 finals which takes place between 15-29 June in Sweden. The five-times European champions are in Group A and will face the hosts along with Belarus and Serbia. [2009 Finals]
